Good Hoots is the section of our Blog where we take a closer look at some of our most requested and top selling cannabis products here at Good Roots.
Purple Sun God. It even sounds great, doesn't it? This groovy indica from the West Coast offers some great flavours and aromas as well as containing elevated levels of a certain hard-to-find, but beneficial cannabinoid. Let's have a closer look...
Pure Sunfarms
With an 1.1 million square foot growing facility based in the Fraser Valley, Pure Sunfarms has been growing produce like tomatoes and peppers for decades and with a launch into the cannabis market in 2019, they've since been using sunlit greenhouses to grow an interesting portfolio of products from the 75,000kg of cannabis which they harvest annually.
Pure Sunfarms uses minimal packaging, which is great to see, as they are one of the few cannabis companies that don't wrap their weed in obscene amounts of cardboard & plastic, unfortunately. Their product comes in at a great price point too meaning this is some of the best value marijuana on the legal Canadian market right now. Offering some lesser found and more obscure strains has also found them a niche which continues to grow. Strains like Critical Kali Mist, Island Honey, and White Rhino continue to grow in popularity as does their new 1oz Indica Blend option, one of the lowest price ounces anywhere!
Purple Sun God
The child of two West Coast classics, Purple Sun God is a a rarity among Indicas in that it can provide quite an uplifted and energetic, albeit totally relaxed, experience. Purposefully bred from Purple God Bud & UBC Chemo to have high levels of CBG, this strain is unique in a few ways.
The first thing you'll notice once you open the pouch is the delicious smell of mint & tart berries, with a hint of spice in the background. In short, it smells great.
Purple Sun God often has buds on the smaller side which are quite densely packed. Deep green coloured buds are speckled throughout with lighter purple hues and are topped off with a thick layer of trichomes.
Pinene and Caryophyllene team up with the somewhat rarer terpene, Ocimene, which in this one provides the fresh, minty flavour you can expect to encounter. Ocimene also has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. That's more antis than an Albertan family reunion!
As mentioned above, this strain is particularly high in the cannabinoid known as CBG. This compound is typically converted in to THC & CBD during growth, and as such, most plants end up with less than 1% CBG post-harvest, making it quite difficult to find in higher quantities. CBG can help quash feelings of paranoia that some users experience as it helps the body absorb THC in a more balanced way. It also shows promise for having certain medical benefits.
